GROWMARK Employees Deliver $5,000 Checks to Bloomington Nonprofits on Giving Tuesday
GROWMARK employees delivered $5,000 checks to five nonprofit organizations in Bloomington and Normal on Tuesday, December 3, for its first Giving Tuesday event.
GROWMARK sent teams of employees to visit different nonprofit organizations throughout the day on Tuesday to deliver the checks. The scheduled stops included:
"GROWMARK is thrilled to participate in our first Giving Tuesday event. We hope to inspire excitement around this special day and encourage other companies to join us in supporting the outstanding work of nonprofit organizations that make a difference in our community every day," said Beth Fannin, GROWMARK Foundation Director.
Brian Keith, Senior Energy Advisor with GROWMARK, felt this event was an opportunity to get involved. “I think it gives employees an opportunity to get involved and support nonprofits in our community,” he said. “I feel like I can make a greater impact when the company I work for encourages community engagement.”
“We’re excited that the GROWMARK Foundation is supporting us in this way on Giving Tuesday. Their gift will help us continue to meet the needs of the homeless population in our community during the colder winter months when they are the most vulnerable,” said Home Sweet Home Ministries CEO Matt Burgess.
“We’re incredibly grateful to GROWMARK for their generous $5,000 donation on this Giving Tuesday,” said Major Dan Leisher. “This contribution to our Christmas Campaign will provide critical support throughout the year. It’s partnerships like GROWMARK that enable us to continue serving our community and making a lasting impact.”
501C3 organizations whose work impacts various populations in Bloomington and Normal were chosen to receive checks. Next year, GROWMARK plans to seek nominations from employees for eligible 501C3 organizations. GROWMARK encourages community engagement of its 500 Bloomington-based employees by offering eight hours of volunteer time off each year and a giving program through the GROWMARK Foundation that matches employee gifts, up to $200, to eligible 501C3 organizations.
